The Teachers

Bic & Simone

Simone met Bic on a crowded dance floor, they found a common passion for Lindy Hop and have never stopped dancing since. Their love for the dance has taken them to many places such as New York, China, Sweden, Barcelona and Bali to experience the various local scenes and the top teachers around the world. 2012 saw a succession of first place positions in competitions all over the UK and 1st and 2nd place at major french camps.

For Simone dance has always been a part of her lifestyle. Between the age of 2 and a half and 18 Simone took classes in tap, ballet, jazz and modern dance and performed in many professional shows. A few years later Simone started Swing Jive classes and eventually became a demonstrator and a taxi dancer for many years. It was at one of these dances that she met Bic.

Bic has worked in the theatre and dance industry for nearly 25 years. As with many swing dancers in the UK, Bic’s first introduction to partner dancing was Modern Jive, which he did for over 6 years, demonstrating, helping organise events, DJing and teaching for several organisations on the south coast. Bic had discovered and become obsessed with Lindy Hop for a while, then met Simone at a dance event, and together they spent every spare moment dedicated to the dance!

Bic and Simone run weekly classes on the South Coast as well as many events in the UK and abroad. They are also invited to teach at various camps and workshops around the UK. They love sharing their passion for the dance and hope to encourage the lindy hop scene in the UK.

Steve & Su

Steve & Su teach regular classes together in Surrey and Guildford.

Su has been dancing since 2006. She went to an open day to try out different dance styles and as soon as she walked into the Lindy Hop class Su was hooked! Su learnt from the best since Ryan Francois & Jenny Thomas were her local teachers. Su  was also invited to join Jenny's girls troupe 'Sophisticated Ladies' and performed at many events over the years and eventually ran her own girls troupe for 3 years. Su started teaching Lindy Hop with Steve in Surrey a few years ago and loves passing on everything that she has learnt about the dance.

Steve started Lindy Hop on a beginner’s course after moving to Chandlers Ford. With no previous dance experience, it was only meant to be a taster. After the first few weeks though, the love was already growing. When a follow asked for a dance and didn't care about the lack of experience, Steve found the joy of social dancing and the great environment created by the people in the classes.

Now Steve has a mild obsession with Lindy Hop, trying to do as much as possible. Whether it dance camps, performances, festivals or just music playing in the streets he’ll find somewhere to swing out.

Jessie and Benjie

Jessie and Benjie from The Swing Project in Cardiff are all about community, connection and collaboration - and they try to make sure all their classes are a reflection of that, creating space for people to come together to share and grow as we all learn how to be better guests in jazz culture.

They love to explore how we can can all have more equal, playful, rhythmical conversations in our Lindy Hop and want to empower you to show up not just for your partner, but for yourself in your dancing.
